Grill Time

Time to fire up the grill. Food for the upcoming week and more. Chicken, pork chops, corn, baked potato’s, t-bone steaks and more!!

Start with some fresh sweet corn
Jalapeno Chicken, baked potato’s, and the corn.
After that is done, more chicken with some secret sauce
Secret no more, brush this on right before they were done.
Now, lets do some pig.
Looking good!!
Hickory smoke on everything
Saved the best for last…T-bones
Mmmmm Good!!
Dessert was no sugar lemon creme cake, topped with low calorie, low sugar vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries mixed in. After all that I’m ready for a nap!!
Life is GOOD!!

Gate Visitors

Lots of cattle roaming around us, these two were interested in the bathroom for some reason.
Moma Cow
Mama cow #38 was keeping a close eye on her baby.
This dog was checking everything out, found out later it belonged to a rancher across the road. He said she usually brought a water bottle with here for you to toss and she would go get it. I guess she didn’t want to play fetch today…no water bottle.

BBQ in Karnes City

We were in Karnes City to do laundry and decided to give this place a try. It’s the Market BBQ. Small building in downtown, we could smell the meat smoking all over the area.

BBQ2 Karnes City
We were sitting outside on the bench when they unlocked the door around 10:30 and said y’all come in and give us a try.
BBQ Karnes City
Fall apart brisket, with great smoke ring and good sauce. They even gave us a free sample of sausage which was good also. There were a steady stream of people come in, most were taking it to go. Good BBQ, we will be back!!

New Gate we are now Working

We moved to Whitsett, Texas to both work at a local ranch oil gate for several weeks.  Great opportunity because we can both work day shift and pay is double what we were making before. This is located west of Kenedy about 45 miles. We have moved the motorhome to a park in Whitsett and only a 5 minute drive to work now!!

Bigger shelter with indoor bathroom and small kitchen area.
office 2
Our office for about a month or so.

Wildflower Center

Yesterday we made a trip up to Austin to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Great place to visit, we highly recommend it!! Here is a few pictures…

Arrived about 10am, spent a few hours, then had lunch at Tres Amigos Restaurant.  Wonderful food and some of the best chips and salsa we have had. Then we went back stayed until around 2pm and went home. We had a great time.

Movie Theaters

I love old buildings and have taken a lot of pictures of old movie theaters along our travels. Some all still in business but many are not. Here is a few we have discovered.

Premont Tx
This one is in the South Texas town of Premont. Love the name.
Alpine Tx
This is the Granada in Alpine, Tx which is no longer used as movies but as a concert venue.
Garland Tx
This one in Garland I’m very familiar with as I went there many times when I was a kid, it has been restored nicely and used a meeting/concert place.
Alpine Tx2
This is also in Alpine and still in business. We watched a movie there in 2016.
Livingston TX
Livingston, Tx. Was still in business when I took this picture, but I understand it is now closed.
Palestine, Tx
Palestine Texas, restored as a Community Theater
Marfa, Tx
The Palace in Marfa Texas. Now used as a private business.
