Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive

As we headed home the sky in the park was wonderful. The mountains never looked better. What a perfect day. These where all taken on Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive.

Late afternoon the sky turned cloudy making the deep blue much paler. We had a great day, the weather was warm, and the mountains were putting on a show. It was beautiful!!

Santa Elena Canyon

We finally made it down to Santa Elena Canyon. This is a must see on any visit to the Big Bend. The pictures tell the story.

We had lunch at the overlook area

There is a short trail taking you into the canyon

The Rio Grande River flows out and makes the natural border between Mexico and Texas. Mexico is on the left side of this picture.

This is looking back as the Rio Grande flows out and takes a right turn forming the border

The river had a very slow movement

You can see the trail with a few people on it and also 2 rafts floating down the river

The views were wonderful

This is one of the best areas of the Big Bend. Take the Ross Maxwell Scenic drive down here for the best scenery.
